Melissa studied human biology at UofT and splintered off into self study of lipid chemistry.  She is an active member of the AOCS (American Oil Chemists Society) attending many short courses and conferences on the complexities of lipid chemistry. Her main interest is lipids in heart disease and lipid oxidation.
